Often I run scenarios through my mind entertaining thoughts of a career in politics. Seeing as all politicians at one point were young and idealistic, I wonder if all elected officials start out as well meaning do-wellians who eventually succumb to the power of party control and the all mighty dollar.
I’m sure some are legacies whom have had a right leg firmly entrenched in leadership. The same occurs in the densely Italian neighborhood such as the one I am from. Cousin Tony is the alderman and his kid runs the waste management portions of the county. That’s how it is; his kid will one day be elected. Probably a friend of Cousin Tony will hold the office until the kid is of age and experience and just like that the cycle continues.
Legacies aside, their must be a minority that still comes from nothing and can break into the political system. Enough of the day dreaming and onto reality….
Immigration, if you have turned on the news through TV or car you have probably seen/heard that yesterday was the much hyped Illegal Rally in a number of major U.S. cities. This rally has lofty goals such as “shutting down the nation” because illegal immigrants are what makes this country work.
I love these types of rallies. It’s always portrayed as such a love fest. Look at these people!!! All they want is to work in the greatest country in the world!!!! These people love this country!!!! And to show their love they have decided to unanimously attempt to sabotage the economic stability of the country they so desperately need to be in!!
Buckle down; stop complaining that immigration laws are too hard. Of course they are hard we don’t need a swarm of uneducated people we are raising a fine crop of our own. You pride yourself on your hard work? Why don’t you work hard to become a legal citizen of this country?
The protest is a beautiful thing!!! However the message is still just as effective on a Saturday. The premise around this entire procession is so counterintuitive that it borders on sitcom standards. Could you imagine if we formed a rally supporting legal immigrants that was based on everyone calling off work in an effort to show our value to the economy? We would be called irresponsible we would be shamed by the media and politicians would have been falling off their luxury recliners to spout off in front of a news camera on how we were letting the country down.
I guess everyone loves an underdog. I myself fully support the rally purely based on the fact that it seemed to shorten my commute. Secondly, I support because it gives our government a prime opportunity to photograph and catalogue every illegal in an urban area.
Now wouldn’t it be funny if another rally is virally started by our own government in an attempt to round up illegals? Now that’s the type of government I could support.
And as a p.s. since this column is way to serious for fun links or videos….
For the love of God stop blaming the Companies for high gas prices. Gas prices are decided by the selling of oil futures which are priced based on anticipation of supply and demand. Any further intrigue would involve gouging and a governmental and distribution level.
Do we go after the farmers when milk goes up a few cents? Do we call for investigations when a corn farmer shows a profit?
And a second and final p.s…..
New taxes on companies do NOT lower your prices. Companies do this great thing called passing on the expense to the consumer. Government taxation only brings prices up.
Take it to a personal level, if the government suddenly took 80% of your paycheck away you would have to find more means of acquiring income or you would request that your main source of income ups their donation.
Economics bitches!! The math never lies however every news outlet will probably take up arms to prove it does. This just in….. Math is hopped up on drugs and holding a baby hostage while driving a gas guzzling SUV!! More details at 11.
